GUIDELINES FOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
MONTGOMERY FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS, INC.
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen; attend a licensed, accredited or state approved educational institution; and is pursuing education beyond high school.
Applicants must submit:
1. A completed and signed Montgomery Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. scholarship application Scholarship Application,
2. Three character references from non-family members,
3. Certified transcript(s) of courses completed and Grade Point Average (GPA), and
4. An essay on applicant’s goals, hobbies, motivation to succeed in college, and the difference receiving this scholarship would make. Essay should be double-spaced and not exceed two pages.
The scholarship committee shall consider all applications without regard to race, religion, or national origin. The decision will take into consideration scholastic achievement, community service and volunteer work, and recommendations of submitted references.
All applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of application and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher through the time the scholarship is awarded. The scholarship will be withdrawn if one of the following events occur: failure to maintain 3.0 GPA through graduation, withdrawal from accredited educational institution by the student or failure to meet entrance requirements for an accredited educational institution.
The MFGC Treasurer shall submit a check in the amount of the scholarship offering to the appropriate financial officer of the recipient’s educational institution at the direction of the Scholarship Committee Chairperson and the President of the Montgomery Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.
